The vineyards grow on south facing hilly and windy terrains, particularly suited to the Sangiovese grape. The grapes are manually harvested and are bottled by the renowned vinery of Leonardo Salustri, a pioneer of organic wine making in the region. 1.5 hectares are planted since 1999 with the Sangiovese grapes which make the Animoso wine, after exclusively steel vat aging.
Animoso's ruby red colour lights up with a warm and mysterious hue. Subtle and complex to the nose, it reminds of a small crunchy fruit, sour cherries, raspberries, blueberries and wild herbs. At the end a surprising scent of lavender. A velvety and rich taste, well balanced, then displays muscle, impetus and intriguing tanins before bidding farewell with balsamic and honey notes. Like a aristocrat from bygone days, it charms you by sophisticated simplicity.
